KirklandGold.com – The 2nd Mile Property Viewer

Overview

In the 1990s our exploration lead, Doug Robinson, P.Eng., held more than 100 claim units here, covering 15 km along the Larder Lake–Cadillac break system that hosts the gold of Kirkland Lake. After mapping more than 3,000 acres and running more than 200 km of ground geophysics, the best claims were kept – they form the core of the property today.

Stripping, mapping and sampling since then have exposed the showings below, mostly in the north and east of the property. None of them has been drill-tested. Each one has its own page with the geology, location, photos, maps, geophysics and sampling, and a guided tour in the Property Viewer. The laboratory results for the Reed showing are on its sampling section.

Much of the ground is under glacial overburden. Float trains explains how the large boulders the ice left behind lead back to their bedrock source.

About one metre of quartz vein, mixed alteration and massive silicification, in broad Fe-carbonate alteration – the host rock of much of the Kerr-Addison ore.

Key findings

  • About 1 m wide including silicification
  • Hosted in a wide alteration zone
  • Four vein strands (G1–G4)

A quartz vein more than 30 cm wide with pyrite–albite alteration – a style associated with many gold ores in the Larder Lake break – folded and/or faulted.

Key findings

  • 0.30 m vein, about 40 m long
  • Pyrite and albite mineralization
  • Rusty pyrite in the vein and wall rock

Vein strikes

Every vein's strike and dip at true scale, with its best gold, our claims and the old field grid. In the Property Viewer, turn on Strike and dip to see them in 2D and 3D, and click a petal of the rose to light up the veins that run that way.
